The mobile DMR from  Kydera is amazingly popular and now there is the new dual  band handheld, which uses a very  similar operating system and display. We've got one of the CDR-300's  in the office permanently and it sits happily scanning our local analogue repeater and the worldwide DMR channels through our local repeater.

 

Price wise - it's exactly the same as the mobile so offers the same facilities in a handheld format - take your pick!!

 

They're nice and solid and they have nice chunky buttons and knobs. A really good spec for a handheld radio.

 

 

These do have an onboard GPS receiver which will provide your exactly location and encode this into messages sent to preset addresses - for example you could have a number of these units and the position of the other members of the group may be displayed on a screen. This is presented as a position map with relative locations - marine plotter style - it does not allow superimposed maps.
