Popuar with the paintball, Airsoft and military re-enactment groups, this radio is styled on the military issue comms systems popular with armed forces world wide featuring  conventional comms, digital encryption and satellite capable operation - costing amazingly high amounts of money, but being resistant to water ingress, physical damage, and operation with tough accessories. This radio is styled on the original but features a standard dual band FM transceiver, with no digital operation and no network capability. It fits the usual ex-military webbing, pouches and other accessories to mimic the appearance and basic functionality of this kind of equipment. Enthusiasts can look the part and have communications without the huge and pointless expense of the originals they are modelled on. Battery packs are similar and feature the bayonet locate and twist system. They can have a number of alternate antennas, headset and remote telephone handsets fitted if required.

 

The unit can be programmed from the front panel, using the now familiar menu system. It has speech readout of your keypad entries, handy for low light conditions.

 

GPS is fitted and provides Lat/Lon readout and satellite count via menus

 

Relay mode is fitted - for example, 145.2MHz can be entered as receive frequency, and it will relay any activity out to the other band - I tested on 435.5MHz

This matches the capabilities of the supplied battery pack.

 

It comes in a Peli-style tough case with decent seals. It has the main body, the battery, the battery charger unit, a multi voltage charger - and we will include the 2pin to 13A adaptor required. The antenna is in two parts. The  adapter unit which has a TNC base to connect  to the radio, and the top has a screw-in receiver for the flexible, military flat type antenna that can be folded if you need to shorten it - this obviously reduces range, but for local operation is still a good performer.

 

Dual band with all the usual features. It does NOT have networking and of course is NOT digital - but it is authentic in appearance.
